An Introduction
Rhubarb Jam is a volunteer-member organization of approximately 20 families who reside primarily in Frederick and Montgomery Counties. Every week from September through June, we meet on Tuesdays in Braddock Heights from 10:30am-3pm and on Thursdays in Germantown from 10:30am-3pm.
Our co-op, RJ School, has fun, innovative and educational classes. These classes vary by session and are determined by the current members and the needs of their families. The atmosphere is relaxed to foster a child's independence and a concept of child-led learning.
RJ School is open to member families and included in the cost of membership. Also included with membership is a variety of social activities, such as dances, barbecues and the occasional "Parents' Night Off."
Through the group, members frequently share news of and participate together in outside cultural, social and educational opportunities. Past activities have included field trips to the Newseum, The Bureau of Printing and Engraving, The American History Museum, and Mt. Vernon. We have enjoyed activities together such as bowling, ice skating, movies, local theater, and we hold an annual family camp.
Membership dues are $35/month (September-June), with a one-time $35 registration fee. We ask that one adult member from each family join a committee and participate in running the organization and keeping our rented spaces clean. We have no minimum membership commitment, but do require a $35 rejoining fee if a membership has lapsed.
If you have any further questions, please email us at info@rhubarbjam.org, or join our Yahoo group, RJ Community, to hear about events and activities that we will be hosting in the upcoming months.
